For Clément Jacquey, February was the perfect month. The young archer has reached the top of Europe twice, first in a team event and then in a singles event, beating his compatriot Franche-Comtéjean-Charles Valadon in the final.

Throughout the race, the Belfort Savoureuse members were very calm and withstood the pressure perfectly. “I couldn’t ask for more,” he said.

Clément Jacquey’s performance is even more notable, as members of the Belfort Savoureuse have only played in one major so far (the World Championships in Yankton last fall).

But his convincing results among youngsters show his full potential.

Jade Maraval starts the new year after a winter internship in Tenerife, Spain. The MBA javelin thrower signed two of France’s best performances in her category in February. First in Obernai (Bas-Rhin), the pitch is 46.69 meters. Then at Épinal (Vosges) she did even better with her javelin throw at 48.46m!

All is well for Jade Maraval, who is recovering to a satisfactory level following an injury in 2021. But the MBA athlete is far from her best, as she has already signed a 52-meter-plus transcript. It is with its good momentum that it hopes to meet these standards again soon.

Why not this weekend, at the Provence Salon (Bouches-du-Rhône), where she will be a big favourite for France’s title hopes. But not just a new title, Franc-Comtoise sees further.

Quentin Born (22) from Alsace came to Bauhb at the start of the season to keep Balfour’s goal with another youngster, Antonin Bounet (19). Quentin Bohn trained at HBC Thann Steinbach and wore the colours of Cernay Wattwiller Handball (N2) and Folschviller (N1M). It was there that he was discovered by Hazebrouck, another N1M club.

He arrived at Belfort on a one-year contract at the end of the shortened 2020-2021 season. And several times this season, he’s had very good numbers. 11 saves against Chambery, 12 saves against Celesta and 19 saves against Boulogne-Billancourt. The last day’s performance was almost reposted. Against Bona, Born made 18 saves and was fully involved in Balfour’s victory. On the final day, with all N1 groups combined, only Huyghe (Lille Métropole) with 20 and Traoré (Créteil) with 22 were better nationally.
